It may seem as though we boast too much about the authority the Lord gave us. But he gave us this authority to strengthen you, not to hurt you. So I will not be ashamed of whatever boasting we do. 2 Cor. 10:8 ERV
Recently, I was having a discussion with some people & I talked about us making the word our stay & not just some memorized words. It was more of us letting the word come to be in those situations around us than just some muddled up letters that we articulate & store to be recited without using it at such times we need it most. We are in that generation where people are more of letters than the actual living word which is alive & meant to be alive in us. We have so limited it to: “let me have these words in my head, you know”, “let me be able to quote it; see Mr that, he can recite verses & wow! I want to be like that too”. Trust me, it’s not meant to be just being able to memorize it & all. It’s about you making the word your solace, your strong tower that you run to at troubled times. We have so much limited the words in us, that even the brained ones who can quote the Bible from Genesis to Revelation (you know they are so good with quoting the scriptures) are still being lashed by the devil from all sides cos they lack the word in them. It so haven’t translated from memorized letters to living words in them.
Yeah, back to my experience; some days after I talked about letting the word be our stay, I was faced with a puzzle or let me say I was just so confused & all I could think about was ”what would I do”. I prayed & was trying my best to distract myself from thinking so much about it & then this dropped on my mind – “let the word be your stay” but another thought was like ”shey you were talking then ba, see you, what are you doing now?”. And there, I found myself guilty of the same thing. Right there I started speaking His words given to me before that time in faith, even though at first I was just speaking it and it felt like nothing was happening. But after a while, I was at peace. I was led to sing & that was it. Just like a soothing balm to the raging storm.
Wow!, yeah I had to share my part of this cos we are most times guilty of this; I am as well. When we feel lost even when we have these Words for us cos we fail to see the power in it for us. Just as the name of Jesus (the word in flesh) is spoken & kneels bow and tongues confess, so also the Word we have been given ain’t just letters; they are living, powerful, active – Hebrews 4:12, it can do more than your thoughts can ever bring to be.
Engage the Word of God today in ”all” your dealings & situations. Stop seeing the words as your literacy book or that fascinating book with nice covers & all. See the life in it, don’t limit it in you. And let me tell you something: just cos you fail to see the power at work in and through His words for you doesn’t make it less active and alive!!. So engage the word in you today. It is a light to your path; it straightens out those crooked ways, it dispels confusion, it is a lamb to your feet as well; it makes the journey easier cos it helps you all along life’s journey. The word is your compass, it’s your fuel, so stop letting the devil whip you left, right, centre (whatever direction) cos he has lost the battle over our lives already.
Stop being that Christian that has the word (the hard copy or E copy) & the devil is still able to confront to destabilise you. Be that Christian, who the devil flees from cos he knows you have his whip in your hands (the word made alive in you).
I’m still learning as well as growing & we all are but we have to start living as He desires. Trust me, God has so provided us with all that we need to live indeed, be Alive in Him, be made perfect and holy unto Him. God bless us all. Amen!
— Let the word be in you and not just some spoken words which have no effect in you. Quit being that type of Christian whose mouth can’t even feel the effectual power in it talk less of your being knowing it is alive in you.
— Let the Word translate into your being!!!.
**He wants to see us grow in Him**
