πŸ”³βœ΄ LIKE A PILLAR β‡πŸ’

I was standing by the entrance pillar outside the house and was reading a booklet I had with me while I waited for the water that was being pumped to get full so that I can switch off the machine.

And in the process of leaning on the pillar and reading one of the pages, I was drawn to the built of a pillar.

What is a pillar?

A structure, standing alone; standing upright used as a support.

And coincidentally the booklet I was reading was sharing the instances of separation. That some separations are needed for one to get to the place of fulfilling one’s destiny as an individual in Christ. And Jesus Christ was cited as an example in the previous topic that I read the day before and today’s thoughts was referencing Elisha.

Let’s quickly look at the two references:

JESUS:

Then Jesus went with them to a garden called Gethsemane and told his disciples, β€œStay here while I go over there and pray.” Taking along Peter and the two sons of Zebedee, he plunged into an agonizing sorrow. Then he said, β€œThis sorrow is crushing my life out. Stay here and keep vigil with me.” Going a little ahead, he fell on his face, praying, β€œMy Father, if there is any way, get me out of this. But please, not what I want. You, what do you want?”

Matthew 26:36‭-‬39 (MSG)

In this reference verses, Jesus was at first with His disciples but at a point, He separated from the rest of the disciples taking with Him, Peter, John, and James. But then He did another thing, the bible stated that “Going a little ahead”. Implying that He eventually left the company of all of His disciples; even the chosen three (3), as He knew better than to seek the relieve He wanted and desired from mortal men and hence went farther to meet with God ALONE. And there, He was able to surrender His all and this sincere decision of His, to surrender all to the Father’s will is what birthed our salvation and everything Christianity is all about.

Wondering, if we are still looking at “like a pillar”? yes we are. πŸ™‚

The second reference is ELISHA:

Elijah said to him, β€œPlease stay here, for the Lord has sent me to the Jordan.” But he said, β€œAs the Lord lives and as your soul lives, I will not leave you.” So the two of them went on. Fifty men of the sons of the prophets also went and stood opposite them [to watch] at a distance, and the two of them stood by the Jordan. And Elijah took his mantle (coat) and rolled it up and struck the waters, and they were divided this way and that so that the two of them crossed over on dry ground. And when they had crossed over, Elijah said to Elisha, β€œAsk what I shall do for you before I am taken from you.” And Elisha said, β€œPlease let a double portion of your spirit be upon me.” He took the mantle of Elijah that fell from him and struck the waters and said, β€œWhere is the Lord, the God of Elijah?” And when he too had struck the waters, they divided this way and that, and Elisha crossed over. When the sons of the prophets who were [watching] opposite at Jericho saw him, they said, β€œThe spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha.” And they came to meet him and bowed down to the ground before him [in respect].

2 KINGS 2:6‭-‬9‭, ‬14‭-‬15 (AMP)

Elisha knew what he wanted and despite the fact that there were 50 other sons of the prophets alongside himself at that time, whose only concern as stated was just to watch Elijah and Elisha; he faithfully and committedly continued the journey. Even when Elijah told him severally to wait for him in a certain place as he journeys on to another location, Elisha pressed on, he persevered and was focused to the end; and was finally able to get a double portion of Elijah’s anointing; that he so much desired. That after the encounter, the other spectators – the 50 sons of the prophet saw him and couldn’t help but state “the spirit of Elijah rests on Elisha”. Who told them?. πŸ”₯

They saw the evidence of the anointing and testified of it. Hence separation is needed. And as earlier stated a pillar is a structure known to be in a state of separation (standing alone) but yet has so much stamina being built over time in its moment of separation. Which can then afterward serve as an anchor or a leaning structure for other or some selected building parts (depending on the plan).

So back to “like a pillar”. It is important for a pillar to be separate!. Seeking strength from its source as it can’t afford to be lax because a lot depends on it.

Also, a pillar isn’t just any ordinary mold. As it’s making process requires a lot of materials to be used and works with PROCESS flow unique to its kind, If truly the builder intends it to be long-lasting.

Precision is required alongside the use of quality materials in the making process of a pillar. It is as well, securely guided with planks to avoid any dent – all in a bid to get a perfect piece!.

Also, take note that a pillar is another major part of any building after the foundation.

Seeing how delicate and essential a pillar is to any structure. We likewise as God’s likeness are made a pillar. We were made with the utmost precision and care. Nothing was allowed to dent us while He made and molded us to fit His form. And yes, our molding stage could have taken a while compared to the rest of the building part. This is because of your graceful importance as utmost time was needed to put you right so that the sect of people that rests or leans on you for support can be safely held and secured.

You might be wondering why I took so much time explaining the making and built of a pillar. ☺

But then, In my process of leaning on the pillar as earlier stated, I couldn’t help the nudge to write on it as I got to dig deeper on it when it came to mind. And I was also reminded that our making process differs, likewise the individual assignment or tasks assigned to us. As the time needed to make and fit a lintel is not the same to fit a door frame and never the same for a wall. To every part, its making process differs.

In conclusion, never compare your making process to another. Appreciate the grace He has bestowed upon you as a person; His image and masterpiece. And live rightly in it – Be a pillar indeed in your calling!.

You can’t afford to make a dent of the call (His plan and purpose for your life) as He has Graced you for it.

Do have a refreshing weekend. πŸ”₯
