💠 BORN OUT OF LOVE OR AN UNHEALTHY FEAR ❔

So it happened that while we were having the sermon in the church that my attention was drawn to this verse:

“For the thing which I greatly fear comes upon me, And that of which I am afraid has come upon me.”

Job 3:25 (AMP)

AND

“The worst of my fears have come true, what I’ve dreaded most has happened. My repose is shattered, my peace destroyed. No rest for me, ever—death has invaded life.”

Job 3:25-26 (MSG)

Job here is a man who was known to be an upright and just man. Even God attested to this but this verse reveals something else about him.

He served God with an unhealthy kind of fear. Yes, we are to serve God with reverence and fear, but the type of fear expected of us is termed Godly. Whereby we reverence Him for who He is; what He is capable of doing and all that we know of Him (via a personal revelation of Him and His word). Job, in the stated verses, had the fear of the worst happening to him at heart and when the worst eventually happened, the alas remark came forth, hence revealing his state of heart!.

So what kind of fear are you dwelling on – is it a Godly fear or a dreadful fear (the unhealthy fear)?.

What has been the spur in your dedication and active service to Him so far?.

What has been your mindset/view about who God really is?. 🤔

Yes, God is a consuming fire but then He is so full of Love as well. And this attribute (Him being a consuming fire) is not for us to take it in a negative way. Instead, it is a side of God that quickens us, makes us aglow and on fire for Him.

And concerning the angels, He says, “Who makes His angels winds, And His ministering servants flames of fire [to do His bidding].”

HEBREWS 1:7 (AMP)

Let’s also read this verse:

His head and His hair were white like white wool, [glistening white] like snow; and His [all-seeing] eyes were [flashing] like a flame of fire [piercing into my being]. In His right hand He held seven stars, and from His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword [of judgment]; and His face [reflecting His majesty and the Shekinah glory] was like the sun shining in [all] its power [at midday].

REVELATION 1:14‭, ‬16 (AMP)

God is Love (always full of love) but yet a consuming fire (in a graceful way – as the fire signifies His person), which is intended as an ignition to set us on fire – showcase His aura here on earth and be impenetrable to anything the world holds as a stake or the enemy has to offer.

Let His love in you hence spur you to serve Him reverentially, in service to others and in the continuity of your faith living.

Let’s keep the light in us aglow. 🔥

Check the fear you have of God. Do check it – Is it a Godly fear or is it a dreadful fear of Him?.

God bless your heart and mine!. 😉❤

Do have a great week ahead. Toodles 🙋

This made me think of the verse 1 John 4:18- There is no fear in love. But perfect love drives out fear, because fear has to do with punishment. The one who fears is not made perfect in love.

When we do an exegesis on this scripture Job was saying, I was doing everything I was supposed to for God why is this happening to me and I’m fearing that I didn’t do everything I was supposed to otherwise all of these bad things wouldn’t be happening to me thus Job suffered from pride.

I confess that I’ve been like Job where I felt I had done all of the”right” things so why was this bad thing happening to me. And like Job I was being prideful. When the Holy Spirit convicted me of this I repented. Because like God told Job, where was I when He flung the stars in the sky (Job 38:4). In chapter 39 Job gets restored and God gives him double for his trouble. I love the book of Job. Even though Job suffered from pride God still was merciful.

    1. Hmmm. True, that feeling of we have to do it all perfect so that in turn God be good to us. But we forget “even while we were yet sinners He died”. But then we should not stop striving to grow in His love and be better people in Him.

Smiles. Yes, the book is full of so much to learn. 💯

      Thanks for this ma’am. ❤

Amen! Perfect love cast out fear. God loves us perfectly and we do not have to walk in fear. He will always love us and do what is best for us. We should have a healthy reverential fear of Him and honor Him as our Lord. Thanks little sister for this encouragement! ❤️

the things that spurs me to serve Him is that He loved me first. I know my love can never match His for me, my humaneness gets in the way too often. I am not motivated to serve Him because of my love for Him but His love for me. Only He can loves us unconditionally. Though we may love another human at times with such devotion,, yet we are frail and mess up but God’s love is never frail. Good post.
