In the King James Version (KJV) of Your Holy Bible, it means son of consolation,
“And Joses, who by the apostles was surnamed Barnabas, (which is, being interpreted, The son of consolation,) a Levite, and of the country of Cyprus,”

And in the New International Version (NIV) it means son of encouragement.

Recently, a friend.

God’s words, His promises, lives He has put in my care, the future in view, the Holy Spirit!
5. Who was your greatest encourager when you first accepted Christ?
My initial acceptance – My mum. But my sincere rededication – my unit heads and friends (God strategically brought them my way) 😪

How incredibly wonderful to read your statement about God defining you!
People are always saying “I don’t want this to define me.” And many for good reasons.
But even people who love good things still say they don’t want anything to define them.
I agree with you wholeheartedly that I want God to define me!
It reminds me of when the pastors preach and ask, :If you were arrested for being a Christian, would there be enough evidence to convict you?”
