Earlier today (some days ago actually 🙂) I was reading my study text and these verses crossed my mind and I just had to pen it down.
Let’s take a look at the verses:
– But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. Now if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His.
Romans 8:9 (NKJV)
And
– For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God.
Romans 8:14 (NKJV)
The first verse (b part) clearly states us “not being His -God” if we do not have His Spirit (the Holy Spirit) in us. Do we can see here that it is a SIGN that we are His and a SEAL that certifies us that we are not to be touched. That same mark in Psalms, which states:
He allowed no man to oppress them; He rebuked kings for their sakes, saying, “Do not touch My anointed ones, And do My prophets no harm.”
PSALMS 105:14-15 (AMP)
He wouldn’t allow anyone trouble us, oppress us or ridicule our lives (the very life He gave unto us). So yes, the Holy Spirit is our advantage over all other things in this world. Our seal of ownership by God!
Let’s also look at the 2nd stated verse, it states the 2nd key benefit we have, when the Holy Spirit is present in us. It all sums up the entirety of the aim of His presence in John 16, which states:
But I tell you the truth, it is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper (Comforter, Advocate, Intercessor–Counselor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you; but if I go, I will send Him (the Holy Spirit) to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
JOHN 16:7 (AMP)
Verse 8 and 9 also further buttresses this but you can read it at leisure. The Holy Spirit is for our Leading!. Which sums up the reference verses we have in John 16. God has given us the Right -The seal of His ownership of our lives, which is the Holy Spirit in us and He (the Holy Spirit) is also our Lead being!.
Yes, we can’t rule out that part!. God didn’t just call us out to be that signboard with plasters of “I own you”; “No evil is permitted around you” etc. He has also likewise called Us into the place of “Ambassadorship – Being His replica and representative here on earth”. And the evidence of this intention of God for us can only be achieved by the leading of the Holy Spirit in us.
I see the Holy Spirit as our channel, channeling the very life of God into our being. Like that tap connected to a water source letting out water for its users. So also we are (the tap – to let out) and the Holy Spirit is for us (the hinge; the link; the channel). He is the very link that connects us to the heart of God.
Just as these verses state:
For what person knows the thoughts and motives of a man except the man’s spirit within him? So also no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the [Holy] Spirit who is from God, so that we may know and understand the [wonderful] things freely given to us by God.
1 CORINTHIANS 2:11-12 (AMP)
Let’s us thence not just stop at just claiming the Holy Spirit as our seal; which most certainly He is because we are now in Christ. But let’s also allow Him to be our lead being. Let’s allow Him to lead us into that truth of God’s word for us (our lives, plans, and pursuit). The world is full of so many troubles, worries, aches, and disappointments, etc. Name it!. But He is our advantage over all this. He makes us strong and at peace even in all of these. Jesus still found rest even in the boisterous storm. Oh my!.
This reminds me of a song I have been listening to of late again, have always loved it. It is titled “Jesus knows” by Lionel Peterson. An old song but still carries life!.
The Holy Spirit is our greatest advantage as a believer in Christ Jesus and also as a Son/daughter of the Almighty God.

My pastor asked a question Sunday morning- How do we know if we are a Christian. He then talked about how after he became a Christian he started to feel convicted about things in his life. That is part of the ministry of the Holy Spirit 🙂
