On a graceful Sunday, while we had our worker’s meeting, our study was on Daniel and his deliberate/intentional act to stay with God, by not defiling himself with the king’s food.
On reading the text again, I got to see some new things. Which I want us to discuss.
Do read these texts:
But Daniel said to the overseer whom the commander of the officials had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, βPlease, test your servants for ten days, and let us be given some vegetables to eat and water to drink. Then let our appearance and the appearance of the young men who eat the kingβs finest food be observed and compared by you, and deal with your servants in accordance with what you see.β
DANIEL 1:11β-β¬13 (AMP)
And,
At the end of ten days, it seemed that they were looking better and healthier than all the young men who ate the kingβs finest food. As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all kinds of literature and wisdom; Daniel also understood all kinds of visions and dreams.
DANIEL 1:15β, β¬17 (AMP)
And,
The king spoke with them, and among them, all not one was found like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah; so they were [selected and] assigned to stand before the king and enter his personal service. In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king consulted them, he found them ten times better than all the [learned] magicians and enchanters (Magi) in his whole realm.
DANIEL 1:19β-β¬20 (AMP)
I stated these verses in other to bring to light the key things that resulted from a deliberate act of “choosing to be different” by Daniel, and his friends.
Not only were they 10 times better. They also were, 10 times better than all the magicians and wise men in the kingdom at that time!.
They were what we would call different; exquisite; highflyers, etc.
The thrilling part for me is that even though Daniel and his friends committed themselves to eat only vegetables. As against the meat and assorted meal, the other selected men in the province ate, they still came out different and better. π―
Even the chief of the eunuch saw the “obvious” – that they were 10 times better in everything than the rest of the selected men. And gracefully God didn’t stop there, He added more.
Let’s read this verse:
As for these four young men, God gave them knowledge and skill in all literature and wisdom; and Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams.
Daniel 1:17 (NKJV)
The radiance shone in these men couldn’t be covered. Even the king upon evaluating them saw them 10 times better. (Vs 20)
Truly our God is able to do the exceeding in our lives, if only we allow our lives to reflect the graceful power that we carry on our inside – out (Jesus!)
Text:
Now to Him who is able to [carry out His purpose and] do superabundantly more than all that we dare ask or think [infinitely beyond our greatest prayers, hopes, or dreams], according to His power that is at work within us,
EPHESIANS 3:20 (AMP)
And that power is Christ. It cost these men the supposed good food, as they chose leaves (Vegetables) rather than meat and all the supposed yum. π₯
But the result of their decision showcased them.
Let hence allow the power of Christ within you reflect out. And assuredly He would do the exceeding in and through you that everyone else can’t help but notice and point it out.
Do have a great day ahead. π€
Happy Sunday. β€

Amen. Awesome devotion.
We can know all about God’s Word, but we will never be able to utilize the power…God’s power until we plug into the source of the power. These men knew of the power and they utilized the power.
THANK you for sharing. Blessings to you always my sister

There is so much to learn from Daniel. But it can be summed up as, in ALL things choose obedience.

Amen ππΏ. I actually just revisited the book of Daniel on Friday. Something that stood out to me was that Daniel and his friends were united. It wasnβt only Daniel that ate the vegetables but they also partook in it. We must continue to stand firm for Christ because indeed His Power is at work in us. His grace is sufficient to carry us through every storm of life. Thank you for sharing this insight π. Stay blessed.

After I initially left a comment I seem to have clicked on the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now every time a comment is added I receive four emails with the exact same comment. There has to be a way you are able to remove me from that service? Thanks!
