REFLECTIONS ON COVID-19

Seeing how scientists and top world leaders have struggled with major global issues like terrorism and this current pandemic – COVID-19. It is beginning to dawn on me that we are getting to a place where the challenges we face (as a result of Satan’s actions – John 10:10) will put to shame the wise of this world, ushering us to a place of absolute dependence on God.

Reflecting on these global issues that seem to have ravaged the nations of the world, do know that:

First, God is not caught unawares or in shock. He knows the end from the beginning and the beginning from the end.

“All this has been known from the beginning of time.”
Acts 15:18 (ERV)

Speaking further, If it is happening, it is because He permitted it but He didn’t commission it. God can permit you to steal from someone but He did not commission you to do it. Another case in point is – Job. The Devil was the one who inflicted him, but God permitted it. And He did because He is always up to a grander plan beyond the comprehension of Satan, who is all about inflicting pain and affliction.

“Which none of the rulers of this age knew; for had they known, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.”
‭‭I Corinthians‬ ‭2:8‬ (‭NKJV‬‬)

And,

“And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose.”
‭‭Romans‬ ‭8:28‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

From the foregoing, it is clear that there is something God is doing and wants to achieve in all these. There is an agenda, there is a move and there should be a corresponding knowing. The church of God needs to know the will of the father at this time.

“Surely the Lord GOD does nothing Unless He reveals His secret to His servants the prophets.”
‭‭Amos‬ ‭3:7‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

And,

“But there is a spirit in man, And the breath of the Almighty gives him understanding.”
‭‭Job‬ ‭32:8‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

Bearing in mind that we have been made His priests. (Rev 1:6)

WHO WE ARE BY FUNCTION AND WHERE WE SHOULD BE

This question speaks to our root and purpose.
The body of Christ is the medium through which God divinely intercepts, manifests and intervenes in the affairs of men here on earth. He would seem incapacitated if we don’t align with His will and act accordingly. There was a need that God foresaw and He decided to send you. You manifested here on earth by being given birth to, just like John the Baptist was, as stated below:

“There was a man sent from God, whose name was John. This man came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all through him might believe.”
‭‭John‬ ‭1:6-7‬ ‭(NKJV‬‬)

Buttressing my point further, we are God’s instrument to bless the earth. He wanted light on the earth before we came into being, hence He created it Himself. But when we came into play, and the devil commenced his disruptive plans by causing darkness all over the world, then we became the light-bearers (as we are called the light of the world; Matthew 5:14-16). We are sojourners here on earth and likewise His ambassadors. So when it comes to our function (what is expected of us), we are the light of the world and the salt of the earth. This is our place of deployment and dominion.

Do deploy God’s deliverables in you and dominate for His light to shine.

“Arise, shine; For your light has come! And the glory of the Lord rises upon you. For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, And deep darkness the people; But the Lord will arise over you, And His glory will be seen upon you. The Gentiles shall come to your light, And kings to the brightness of your rising.”
Isaiah 60:1-3 (NKJV)

WHERE WE CURRENTLY ARE

Reflecting on the church before this pandemic, it is clear that we have come short in our social impact, influence, and effectiveness as being the light and salt of the world. Like Jonah, we have intentionally gone in the opposite direction. Being distracted by the cares of the world and unwittingly collecting idols in our hearts.

We have said more than we have done; too many words, too few demonstrations of God’s power.

THE REVIVAL

In simple terms, it is turning the hearts of men back to God. And this leads us to the blessings in this phase. The blessings in this pandemic are:

  • It has brought us to a place of sober reflection. As the pandemic flux has gotten everyone, including our leaders to a place of surrender; seeking and asking God to take charge and have mercy upon our lands.
  • The needed/imposed quarantine has nearly dried up the distraction that has plagued the church i.e. the pursuit for the cares of this world. A quick reflective question though — How did we get to this point where we did not allow God’s word (like Matt 6:33 states) to have its full course in our lives? And also fix our misplaced priorities as a church, the way this imposed quarantine is having a field day in our lives? This is indeed a call for us to be more broken.
  • It has brought us to a place of increased self-reflection and a place of concentration on what really matters – service to God and family.
  • We are less focused on doctrines, sects in the body of Christ and now more focused on raising a unified voice of prayer to the Lord, in agreement and engaging him like never before. I have seen more local assemblies, national and international, raise prayers in this time than in my lifetime.
  • It has led us to a place of surrender to God.
  • This also provides an avenue for the church to increase in impact and influence as Daniel and Joseph did. There is a move to this!

WHAT THEN HAPPENS NEXT

“And give Him no rest till He establishes And till He makes Jerusalem a praise in the earth.”
‭‭Isaiah‬ ‭62:7‬ (NKJV)

This revival does not have an end. We do not hold our peace in making intercessions. It shouldn’t end when all this goes away. Instead, we are to keep the fire burning and the prayer altars active!.

This will surely pass and just as Job was restored:

And the Lord blessed the latter days of Job more than his beginning; for he had 14,000 sheep, 6,000 camels, 1,000 yoke of oxen, and 1,000 female donkeys.
Job 42:12 (AMP)

……, we also likewise will be:

Afterward, the sons of Israel will return [in deep repentance] and seek the Lord their God and [seek from the line of] David their king [the King of kings—the Messiah], and they will come trembling to the Lord and to His goodness and blessing in the last days.
Hosea 3:5 (AMP)

Our latter after all this will be far greater. So let’s keep the faith in Him. All will surely be well. I believe and I also want you to believe this.

# Let’s maintain the FAITH over FEAR posture. Blessings!

I really enjoy this writing. I can hear your passion in this writing. We are sent here on earth for a purpose to do God’s will. It is sad that so many people even Christians are not focusing on their purpose. Without this our lives can be successful or be meaningful. We are light in this dark world, let us arise and shine my friend that God be glorified.
