I was seated in my room on a particular afternoon and then I gazed out through the window and I couldn’t help but admire the green leaves on the Moringa tree in the compound. Although this tree had always been there; even so close to my window but I paid more attention to it than usual on this faithful day. I always saw it but it never meant so much to me until this particular time. I was thanking God for life and sustenance and my gaze went through the window and the tree came to sight. You know we’ve not had so much rainfall in a while, but this tree and so many others still maintain their green leaves despite the low and sometimes, no rainfall.
It is rather amazing that even in the odds of the weather, these plants and trees still maintain their green leaves when the reverse would have been the case because of the little/no rainfall, which every plant needs to thrive.
These plants despite the odds they are faced with are still thriving. They still bear their green leaves and we can still admire them even in the odd times.
I can’t help but relate our current time to this scenario. Because despite the odds of the pandemic, despite the spread of one disease or the other. Despite everything we all have had to face at one time or another, we are still here standing, thriving, and living. 🙌
This tree and other trees I see thrive despite all the odds they face. And we too thrive despite all the current happenings, because a being is holding us together.
We are being kept in one piece because an upper hand holds us in place. We are indeed not swept away by the storms because someone is constantly speaking peace to our storms saying “Peace, be still”.
We are not left to submerge into the many pits the enemy dugout for us because He is constantly commanding a fill in, to all these traps. I remember the “booby traps” mentioned in cartoons. The Lord is the anchor and leverage above all the “booby traps” the enemy lays before us. And He is the one making all of the crooked ways before us straightened out.
We are safely held in a hand that can not be contended with. And who is this “being” that has been for us despite all the odds? It is He who made us and upholds our lot!.

The Lord is the portion of my inheritance, my cup [He is all I need]; You support my lot. I have set the Lord continually before me; Because He is at my right hand, I will not be shaken. Therefore my heart is glad and my glory [my innermost self] rejoices; My body too will dwell [confidently] in safety,

And,
I have put My words in your mouth and have covered you with the shadow of My hand, to establish the [renewed] heavens and lay the foundations of the [renewed] earth, and to say to Zion (Jerusalem), ‘You are My people.’ ”
Isaiah 51:16 (AMP)
And,
When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; And through the rivers, they will not overwhelm you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched, Nor will the flame burn you. For I am the Lord your God, The Holy One of Israel, your Savior; I have given Egypt [to the Babylonians] as your ransom, Cush (ancient Ethiopia), and Seba [its province] in exchange for you.
Isaiah 43:2-3 (AMP)
These are some of the promises that come to mind when I look back at everything. If it really hasn’t been the Lord on our side. Where would we really be?. Where would I be? I also ask myself. 🤔
Let us look back at the days gone by and reflect on the goodness of God over us, despite all the odds.
Because despite it all, we are still here – standing, living, and being sustained!. Glory to God. 🙌
