🌸 EXPECTATIONS πŸ“

Expectations

This is a word commonly used in the present age. And from personal experience, we have different or varying expectations, either from people or with respect to a particular outcome.

I want to share how I got my expectations, surprised (literarily). πŸ˜‚

My story - My experience

So I was out of the house to meet with a friend who came to my town for an occasion. And after we bade our goodbyes, I went ahead to do some tasks before heading back to the house. And gracefully, I finished in a short while and I had to flag down a bike rider to get back home. So my usual expectation is that “older” bike riders would be better off to control and caution. And they would also charge moderately. So we (I, myself and me) chose to be on the lookout for older men. πŸ˜‚

Good enough I got one in a few minutes and after I greeted him, I told him my destination and without saying much, the man told me the price. Guess what, it was almost Γ—2 of the usual amount. I just greeted him and told him to go (in peace). 😁

I so don’t like too much talk, abeg (pun alert). πŸ˜€ So unto our next bike rider. I flagged down another and guess what? He was fair enough with the price and I told him the amount from my end and he agreed to it, without me saying “too” much. 😁 And to say that this bike rider was a young man, as against my earlier excuse of looking out for an older man. To crown my surprise, this same man was kind enough to stay in turn to buy fuel at the filling station. And though he had the opportunity, to chance a fellow bike rider, he explicitly told the salesperson to sell to the other man first. I was there smiling at how wrong my expectations were. Maybe because of my former experiences with younger bike riders, I try not to flag them down unless I don’t have any other option.

So when I finally got home and he didn’t have a change, I gladly let it go. πŸ™‚
He really did surprise me. πŸ’―

Shocked - Surprise face
Care to see my surprised face. πŸ˜€

That was on a lighter note but if I have learned something from this, it is to never have a stereotyped mindset of anyone or anything. So a sect might have done me wrong in time past but this same sect can still be of so much good to me. And my why is that, we may at the moment have differing leaders or organizers or these individuals may have even grown and hence become a better version of their selves.

So while we go about our different activities, let our expectations be God controlled. As we may make so many wrong judgments based on our past experiences or even what we have heard in time past. As the case was, with my bike rider experience.

Engage God - plans - Expectations - Decisions

So go with Jesus today and always and let Him help sensor your everyday expectations. He’s got you more than you can ever do – yourself. As I do tell myself that on our own “we are so blind though we have eyes”. But thank God we have the greater eyes that see beyond and through to the intent of the human heart. He sees right through us.

I will leave us with this verse:

For the word of God is living and active and full of power [making it operative, energizing, and effective]. It is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating as far as the division of the soul and spirit [the completeness of a person], and of both joints and marrow [the deepest parts of our nature], EXPOSING AND JUDGING THE VERY THOUGHTS AND INTENTIONS OF THE HEART.

Hebrews 4:12 (AMP)

Emphasis on the letters in capital. πŸ“

And who is the Word?. πŸ€”
Jesus is the word.

In the beginning [before all time] was the Word ( Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God Himself.

John 1:1 (AMP)

May these words illuminate our hearts and help us stay glued to our most trusted and never lacking source – God. (Amen) πŸ™

Blessings. ❀

Do have a blessed new week. πŸ€—

This is a beautiful story, sis. You know, it’s ‘funny’ you have written this. Holy Spirit has been nudging me to write a post about our expectations as well. Perhaps it is a work He is currently doing in our hearts and minds?

I absolutely love how your expectations were surprised in a good way! We need more of that these days! Your surprised face is beautiful, by the way. You are beautiful – inside and out!

You’re right, the more time we spend with Jesus on a daily basis, the more our hearts can be transformed into His goodness and His eyes. Along our path in life, we have learned many things that we’d be better off to un-learn, haven’t we? πŸ˜‰ I know this is true for me as well.

God bless you, my sweet friend and sister. You are such an encouragement and a light! I always love reading your posts! πŸ€—
