💠 THE NEAT FREAK 💠

According to Merriam Webster dictionary, a neat freak is someone who always wants everything to be very orderly and clean.

Before we continue on this. I want to share a bit about myself. 😊

I am of the mantras – “arrange your things”, “leave the place clean” and “a place for a thing. 😀

So when it comes to keeping it neat and tidy, I engage these three mantras. And on some days I just breathe through it when I can’t go through the hassle of cleaning up, in case I see a place that should be arranged, scattered. But largely, I am that kind of person that no matter how stressed up I am, if the room I will be sleeping in is scattered and so not in shape, I still engage in cleaning it up before settling in. My room my delight yeah. 😀

Back to our theme. On a particular afternoon, I was about leaving the first flat to the second when I saw a water spill on the sitting room floor, so I went back, cleaned it up, and placed the stool in the right place. It was during this process of engaging in this, that these words came to mind – “Neat freak”.

I will be focusing on the positive side of these words and that is “a person that ensures things are orderly and clean” (paraphrased). Emphasis on the “clean”.

And this verse came to mind in the process of reflecting on it.

The verse:

Therefore I urge you, brothers and sisters, by the mercies of God, to present your bodies [dedicating all of yourselves, set apart] as a living sacrifice, holy and well-pleasing to God, which is your rational (logical, intelligent) act of worship.

Romans 12:1 (AMP)

And the neat freak (the positive side to it) reminds me of our Christian living. Just as I took the initiative to go back to clean the water spill and then placed the stool rightly, we also should be concerned about what goes on, in our lives.

Your thoughts - Guard your mind - Your way

Some quick questions for us to ponder on. How are your thoughts like?. How is our decision making so far?. Have we chosen the way that seems just okay and doesn’t define you to be a Child of God but rather a Christian by tag or title?.

I know that in our recent world ideology, we have so many words that include the word – “true” e.g. “True believer”; ” True Christian”; “True Love” etc. This is our current reality, and sadly it seems like it has come to stay.

We really need to focus on our way of living as well as our growth in Christ. Are we being deliberate or intentional as our anchor text admonishes us to present ourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable unto God?.

How intentional are you

Have we mixed up our priorities and hence left the house careless and untidy – as our hearts have become a dump of many ungodly thoughts. Our hands a channel of many filthiness and our lips, oh like a dagger cutting many souls into pieces, what about our eyes, dissecting and scanning through the clothing of men and lusting away. 😪

May we choose the way of Christ. May we choose to tidy up our lives that God may be housed in us. 🙏
He is still knocking on our doors – the door of our hearts. Will you let Him in?.

Behold, I stand at the door [of the church] and continually knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with him (restore him), and he with Me.

Revelation 3:20 (AMP)

Blessings to you and yours. ❤

It shall be a blessed and fruitful new week. 🌟

  15. Beautiful post! I can resonate with this. Love the analogy. I believe God pays more attention to our hearts than our outward neatness. However, I’m also neat freak – cleanliness is next to Godliness.

  20. I would rather do a little straightening up each day than clean up a huge mess once a year or so. I pray Romans 12:1 every morning, asking the Lord to make my body a clean vessel for His use. I give Him my mind, asking Him to cleanse it of the unholy, untrue, unimportant, and unnecessarily negative. And I ask Him to make my heart clean, replacing the sinful tendencies with His love, joy, peace, patience, … (etc.) I believe this daily “tidying up” does wonders for me, mainly because I see how my day goes if I don’t do it. :/
