💭 WHAT WENT WRONG 😪

What went wrong

It’s Saturday evening by the time I am writing this. I was so clueless about what to write that I just muttered “we will have something to write tomorrow for the week”. Reading someone’s post on WordPress gave me a spur to writing on something similar. But I had a hard time deciding on it, as I had other themes crowding my mind. Then this theme popped up and I laughed. Interestingly, I still don’t know why I gave it a good laugh. But hoping we would figure that out soon. 😀

Goals for 2020

So a quick question to you: What were your goals for the year?. I mean those specific goals you wrote down in your journal. Or maybe you were like me, you pasted it and hung it somewhere you would see often and be reminded of it.

Where are you with it right now?. Halfway or not even started on it yet?.

Oh my!. This is interesting for me because if someone told me I would be where I am today, in a city, I so detested. I would have looked at the person with that side-eyes 🙄 of – Nah, it can’t happen. 😂

It is so hilarious for me, but it is what it is, yeah?.

So this post is so not to make you feel worse than you may feel about whatever isn’t going according to plan right now for you. But to encourage you to see the bright side of it.

I remember one of the quotes from last week’s post that states “I know I have God and He knows exactly what He is doing”. This right here is exactly my message to you today, dear.

God knows what He is doing

You may have not ticked off any of your stated goals for the year even though you made several efforts to make it happen. And that right there, just because you attempted it; you tried at it, makes you a better person than you started this year. The goal for most of us is to tick off our goals and come out in the public or social media to state how we killed or crushed our goal literarily. 😂

Focused - Crushing your goals - process

But then, we forget the process it took for us to get there. So you may not have crushed all or any of your stated goals, but the fact that you attempted it makes you a far better person than you started off in the year.

Don’t ignore your process. Oh yes dear, you are heading somewhere, and just as Joseph got to that place he dreamt of eventually, and David did too, you are going to get there. Sooner or later, you will.

And the blessing in this is that you have a God that knows what He is doing, who is always at work in you.

Is someone excited just as I am? 😊💃

For it is [not your strength, but it is] God who is effectively at work in you, both to will and to work [that is, strengthening, energizing, and creating in you the longing and the ability to fulfill your purpose] for His good pleasure.

Philippians 2:13 AMP

Abba is intentional about you. And yes, nothing went wrong with you just because you didn’t crush or murder that goal. 😀📌

Everything went right with you, by His timing and will for you. 🙌💯

Stop moping around and be encouraged. 🤗

Wishing you a wonderful week ahead. You are priceless and worth His Love. ❤

  3. This was such a good thing to write about. I’m actually working on a similar one for later this month (Lord willing). It’s easy to get to the end of this year and be happy it’s over but also to regret how we spent this last year, so I’m glad you wrote about this. It will be an encouragement to many people.

Yes, I agree with you on this. Forgetting that despite it all, He is still faithful and has given us many other things we need to be thankful for. 🙌
Thank you for your comments and for affirming this. Blessings to you and your family. 😍

  4. About that time of the year to revisit and reflect on those goals. But like you mentioned, the process must not be ignored. Growth takes place during the process. Learning takes place during the process. The process is vital and just as important—(if not more important) as the destination/attained goal.

My goals were the same as years before, share the love of Jesus with refugees and immigrants, teach, spend time with Jesus, write. 2020 did not change my goals but how to go about them had to change in many ways.

“And the blessing in this is that you have a God that knows what He is doing, who is always at work in you.” What a profound and comforting truth in these crazy election/pandemic times.
Whether one voted for Biden or Trump, there is a sense of exhaustion, “I just want it to be over.” Whether you swear by your mask or swear at a mask, that same sense of fatigue settles in, “I just want this to be over.” But Father IS with us every day. All we need is to recognize and tap into His presence and know that none of this has surprised HIM! 🙂

Some goals, I have met. Some I have not. The main thing I wanted this year was to really examine things and for God to help see what to do and where to go with certain things, personal and professional. Wellllll. This year was a great year for prayer, reflection, reevaluation, testing things, making lots of observations. I’m basically calling it a figure it out and SEE THE END GAME year… ready to move on now! 😍😍

What an awesome post, sis! I sure do love being able to take some time to catch up with your blog. You always have a word of encouragement that brings smiles, wisdom, and heartfelt love for all of us. You are so loved, my friend!

One of my favorite parts from your post was this: “Don’t ignore your process. Oh yes dear, you are heading somewhere, and just as Joseph got to that place he dreamt of eventually, and David did too, you are going to get there. Sooner or later, you will.” — Yes! How beautiful this is. The process is often painful, hurtful, challenging, and even dark at times. We have no clue why we’re going through what we’re going through. For each of us, it is a different scenario and yet the emotions are similar.

You said it best – God is an on time, intentional God. He has never failed us and He never will. Though the promise tarry – wait for it, it SHALL come to pass! 🤗 Love this message, dear sis.

Sending my love to you today and always. You are a blessing!

It’s hard to write when nothing comes to mind! But I’m glad you did, what a great prompt. I have learned this year to keep my goals simple – based on qualities I hope to develop, rather than specific occurrences that I can’t guarantee. It’s been an interesting year for sure!
