I was watching a movie recently and the main actor mentioned “If you get their focus, then you could get whatever you want”.

Phew! Those words stayed with me, it kept ringing in my head. I had to pause and pray at some point. Smiles, Not because I’m being all extra. But because I knew deeply that this was something He needed me to give more thought too.

And so yeah I brooded on it a little bit and here I am writing about it.

Focus is a key part of any individual and truth be told, when a man loses his/her focus then there is really little or nothing to save.

Imagine a driver who is on motion, losing focus or looking away from the windscreen, he might as well move into a pot hole ahead and not even know. Not until the deed is done. Sadly!

I was in a cab one day, after I ordered a bolt ride and this driver kept on dozing off while we were held up in traffic. At first I was annoyed that he was not even concerned about his passenger. But my empathetic self decided to be calm and wake him up instead. Guess what? He still dozed off a couple of times till we got to our location. But thankful because I know that was a risky one. 🙌🏼😅

Just as this driver was not alert and kept on moving so slow-paced. 🥺 It costs us as well, a lot when we lose our focus.

A quick ask to you – “What holds your focus?” or “What are you currently focused on?”

That’s something we need to brood on.

So yes, our focus is key and if we lose our focus to the wrong things, trust that it’s an avenue for the devil to catch us in his bait.

You do not want to be caught losing focus. So that you don’t sink deep into the deep waters.

Peter lost his focus to the waves and began to drown. And I can imagine many of us would have done the same, sadly. 🥺

Especially for those with water-mass fright, they won’t even dare it. 😢

“Peter replied to Him, “Lord, if it is [really] You, command me to come to You on the water.” He said, “Come!” So Peter got out of the boat, and walked on the water and came toward Jesus. But when he saw [the effects of] the wind, he was frightened, and he began to sink, and he cried out, “Lord, save me!””

Matthew 14:28-30 AMP

But the moment he regained his focus and refocused it on Jesus, do you know what?

He began walking on that same storm. Trust that the waves wasn’t said to have calmed down. The only thing that changed when he choose to focus on Jesus and ask for help is that Jesus stretched out His hands to Peter. And yeah he could walk again on the water and in the midst of the waves with Jesus till they got back into the boat.

“But when he saw [the effects of] the wind, he was frightened, and he began to sink, and he cried out, “Lord, save me!” Immediately Jesus extended His hand and caught him, saying to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?” And when they got into the boat, the wind ceased.”

Matthew 14:30-32 AMP

This is an admonition for us. Your situation may not seem the greatest right now but you can either choose to be a victor in that situation or be the victim.

I don’t want us to keep criticizing the “faithlessness” of Peter, rather it’s time for us to learn from what he did and choose to ask Jesus for help in our situations even as we refocus our gaze on Him. 🙌🏼
