🚿 Shower Lessons 📝

Shower

I was running the shower some days ago, and while I was using it, the nudge to write about what was going in my head (A quick note: I can be very thoughtful 😅) about it came to mind. So yeah this is me penning it down. 😊

I believe a lot of us have used a shower yeah. Well, so I believe you will be able to relate with my explanation and thoughts on it as we go on.

Back to the shower gist. The shower kept pouring out slowly, and at some point, I kept my hand half-way into it to check if it was at the temp I wanted it to be. So yeah I wanted to wash my face and because I and Hubby have sort off established our insight on how the shower works at different height level (Hint: He is taller than I am 😉) even at the same temp. (Call us shower experts) 😅

I then placed my hand lower than I would have, to take some water in my palm and start my face washing process, because at that level it is lukewarm. And that was when I got the nudge to write about this.

Stay close to your source

So the higher or closer you are to the shower net, the more you feel the intensity of the temperature you set the shower knob to.

And this brings to mind our lives with Christ. The closer we are to our source, the more we function in the intensity of who He is. It’s like a cause and effect thing. If you are close to Him, definitely you’ll experience His ways deeper than anyone else would.

Let’s take a quick read about a similar depth experience in the Bible.

Reference Text:

“Then he brought me back to the door of the temple, and behold, water was issuing from below the threshold of the temple toward the east (for the temple faced east). The water was flowing down from below the south end of the threshold of the temple, south of the altar. Going on eastward with a measuring line in his hand, the man measured a thousand cubits, and then led me through the water, and it was ankle-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was knee-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and led me through the water, and it was waist-deep. Again he measured a thousand, and it was a river that I could not pass through, for the water had risen. It was deep enough to swim in, a river that could not be passed through.”

Ezekiel 47:1, 3-5 ESV

Here, Ezekiel was led through the water that flowed from the temple. And the more Ezekiel walked in, the more he was covered up.

And I believe it’s a lesson for us as well. To take a deep plunge into Him so that we can have more of Him.

Grow deeper roots

It’s time for us to stop scratching on the surface or staying on the surface level, it’s time for us to go deep. And for the shower – it’s time for us to stay so close to Him that we may experience Him and His ways in a deeper way.

Do you want to be soaked by Him? Then stay close to His showers – His outpouring. And feel the effect of Him overwhelm you.

Yes, we will stay close to Abba’s showers and we refuse to go away from Him. 🙌🏼

There is song that resonates to this:

“Cause I’m tired of the status quo

There’s gotta be more than this

There’s gotta be more, gotta be more

There’s gotta be more than this

Desperate people do desperate things

And we’re pressing in

There’s gotta be more

Gotta be more

There’s gotta be more than this”

Song Title – “Desperate people” by Micah Stampley”

It’s time to go deeper and it’s time to move closer to Him. Selah 🙌🏼

Do have a blessed new week. 🙏🏻

  6. This post reminds me of something C.S. Lewis wrote: “If you want to get warm you must stand near the fire: if you want to be wet you must get into the water. If you want joy, power, peace, eternal life, you must get close to, or even into, the thing that has them.”
This is a lovely and motivating post, Mercy. I’ll definitely be thinking about this next time I shower.

  12. I love this analogy! Drawing closer to Him is where we experience the greatest warmth. And God does want us to go deep, like you said so well. There’s an old southern gospel song called “Dig a Little Deeper.” One of the phrases says, “Dig a little deeper in the storehouse of His love.” God wants more of us so we can experience more of Him. Thank you for such a timely lesson, Mercy. Many blessings!

  13. Well said mercy. Just like any other relationship, the closer one gets with one another, the more they learn and discover more about each other & the deeper the connection—-same with God.
