🤝 Better Together 👫

Better Together

Smiles, are you wondering what she is up to with this title?

Trust me I am as curious as you are on this too.

Anyway we will just flow with His flow. 😊

“Better together” right?

What does this even mean?

Have you ever seen someone struggling to achieve something or do something on their own? And they just keep trying so hard but they are either not achieving it or they are tired out trying to do it on their own.

Phew! That must be a lot. But really, once we understand that our lives – Each and every one of it, was made for association. The better it gets.

Let’s take a cue from the Beginning. Yeah, we are going Genesis. 🤩

“Now the Lord God said, “It is not good (beneficial) for the man to be alone; I will make him a helper [one who balances him—a counterpart who is] suitable and complementary for him.””

Genesis 2:18 AMP

Smiles, Before you start jumping, I’m not about to go all romantic relationship on you with this verse. 😊

I hope we know that as much as this verse is mostly used in the context of marriage and how God created Eve to help/assist/support the ministry of Adam. It wasn’t written only for the context of marriage.

A quick exposé on this, Adam at that time was all by himself (the only human at that time). Oh yeah, he was surrounded by all sort of animals. From the long necked giraffe to the furred bear to the ever whistling singing birds etc.

But there wasn’t much Adam could do on his own and God thought about it. So yeah it was deliberated amongst Himself (the Trinity), and the woman was created to support Adam.

Power of Association

Only then was there an increase to the human lineage/race. 🙂

So the point I’m driving at is that, increase only came when there was an association; an helpmeet which begat others to enforce the multiplication God desired for the human race. And we are where we are today, being able to achieve all the technology advancement etc. that we all enjoy today.

There is a power ignited in us when we are rightly associated.

People who have made an impact in our generation, and their legacy is still being preserved is because they walked with like-minded people who were willing to carry on the vision.

There is another part of the Bible I’ll like to share:

“Two are better than one because they have a more satisfying return for their labor; for if either of them falls, the one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls and does not have another to lift him up. Again, if two lie down together, then they keep warm; but how can one be warm alone? And though one can overpower him who is alone, two can resist him. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12 AMP

I know these verses are mostly used in the context of marriage too but I want us to see it in another light as well.

The Bible says “Two are better than one”. Now imagine yourself on a battle front – alone! You are most likely going to be confused because you are going to have to keep turning 360 degrees so as to avoid an attack from behind you. But imagine having at least one other person with you – with your backs against each other. You will feel safer and calmer.

We can never underestimate the power of right association and connection. Hence the place of the “three-fold cord”, because an association that connects you with God (the utmost and major part of your connection) is unbreakable.

Build Relationship

Don’t let the enemy deceive you into isolation. You are most vulnerable when you are in this state. (Verse 10)

In Yoruba they say that “Eniyan laso mi, timo ba weyin timo reni mi, eniyan laso mi” meaning “people are my convering, when I look back and see my people, I know I am not naked”.

There is a blessing in association. It’s time for us to cultivate our relationships. It’s not okay to be alone. Even before the world became what it is today (filled with many alarming situations and trends), God said it wasn’t good for man to be alone.

So step out of your comfort zone and build these relationships. And while you do that remember to engage the third and most important cord – God.

To wrap this up I can’t help but share how kind a stranger was to me during this last week. I am sharing this because it emphasizes the need of people in our lives. We can’t do life alone!

So I was on my way back from the market. I was fully loaded – I had my wheeling bag, my back pack filled up and I had an extra hand bag with me. On getting out of the tram I was faced with the staircase, and because I couldn’t wheel it down because it was HEAVY! 🥺 I was in a fix and I just stood there – staring. This blessed man must have seen my expression or how I was calculating what I was going to do, when he came across and offered to help me lift it and we both walked down the stairs and my problem was solved. ✨🕺🏽

I thanked him and he continued on his way.

I got home and was sharing my other ordeals to hubby and he was like I’m sure you missed me, going with you this time around (paraphrased). Oh yes! I did. I won’t even deny it. 🙈

Each day I’m learning the blessing of having godly associations in my life. ✨✨🙌🏼

Relationship Blessing

I pray that the Lord will open your eyes to the relationships the Lord needs you to groom and cultivate this season. 🙏🏻

Remember you thrive best when you have at least someone or people who are there to truly watch your back. 💯

I pray for a blessed month for us all. You are loved. ❤️

Our times today can very easily encourage being on your own and that can bring along with it an isolation of sorts, but as you said we are not made to go through life on our own.

  12. Beautiful saying in Yoruba.
Truly, there’s beauty in association of likeminded individuals with shared goals. Though the current state of the world has made it more challenging to form new relationships, it’s still very much possible through the help of technology.
