🗣 Words 💭

The power of words

I believe we know the potency that lies in our words. Because power lies in the words we speak. Especially as a child of God.

I have experienced both sides of words – both the good and bad said towards me. I believe you may have too. But there is a choice we have to make when it comes to words.

And that is – Choose to speak life over yourself and your destiny. The truth is that, you might not have control over the words others say to you. But you have the choice of saying good things or confess God’s words over your life, instead of following that path of speaking words that are demeaning about yourself.

There is a word we need to take more seriously and actively engage with henceforth. And that is the word of God.

I’m not sure the extent at which words said towards you have battered you. But I know the word that can heal you.

God’s word heals you

And that word is Jesus. He is our healer and He is capable of reshaping us and enabling us to see from His lens henceforth. Instead of believing the ill words said to you by your best friend that went rogue on you; or your parents; or your sibling; or even your mentor; or your team lead etc. It’s time to abort the hold we have given the negative words that were said to us. It’s time to pick up His word- God’s word. And allow His words heal you completely. Because His words are what defines you.

“He sends forth His word and heals them and rescues them from the pit and destruction. [II Kings 20:4, 5; Matt. 8:8.]”

Psalm 107:20 AMPC

Are you wondering how that will work? Because here you are with years of bottled up words. All said to you in Anger or Disdain.

Do you know why God’s word is able to counter it all? It’s because it is “Alive”; “Active”; “Capable of piercing you deep because it’s sharp”

Have you watched a surgery video or being in an operation room? Then you will know what a scalpel is. It is an active tool in operations and it cuts deep into the skin to enable the surgeon see what he or she needs to cut out or fix.

In that light, God’s words is described as a double edged sword piercing us deep. And it can not be stopped or put on hold unless we stop believing in Him. So again, the ball lies in your court.

God’s words are alive and active

Will you choose His words and allow His words, purge you of the ill words you have been fed with all these years? Or will you continue to allow those ill words eat you up?

I am hopeful you will choose His word.

Again, His word is Alive and Active!

“For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power [making it active, operative, energizing, and effective]; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breath of life (soul) and [the immortal] spirit, and of joints and marrow [of the deepest parts of our nature], exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart.”

Hebrews 4:12 AMPC

And there is no age-long ill word(s) that His words can not root out.

I pray that we would always engage with His words and not settle for the defeat the enemy wants to feed our hearts and minds with. 🙏🏻

Blessings to you this week. ❤️

Happy new month. You are loved by God. 😊

I was recently listening to a teaching on how we have to relearn and let go of the negative words that have been spoken over us over the years. Your message is timely. I am trying to relearn and believe what God says about me. Life and death are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). We must be careful with our words. Thanks sis! ❤️
