📍 Arise – Is your light shining? 💡

Arise and Shine

I believe this is a message for us all. As it was impressed on my heart to write on this.

Okay, what’s the message here you ask?

The message to us, is this:

How bright is your light?

And,

What extent of your light, are you allowing to shine forth?”

I was praying about Salvation for hearts on a particular day. In our conversation, He drew my attention to this and He explained with an analogy.

The analogy He gave:

Jesus Christ is the father of light, because through Him salvation came forth unto us. Yeah? But Jesus, upon leaving the earth He had impacted His disciples to continue the spread of the gospel unto others (Acts 1:8).

Then they went on to spread it forth to different countries and locations so much that the Light continued spreading. And it still continues spreading, so much that we have heard of Jesus in our age or generation today. And some of us have received Him and we are better for it.

But this started from the source (Jesus) and from Him, it channeled out to many. And this “many” propagated it so much that we have access to this same light (the revelation of who God is to us), that we are now partakers of His divine heritage. 🙌🏼

But remember this:

You have also been called to be lights of the world.

Another question to you while reflecting on the aforementioned is this:

What are you doing with the light that you have received?

Called Light

Again, how bright is your light?

It’s a call for you and I to stop hiding out. Stop shining only in church but at your workplace, you are trying so hard to blend in. So much that you eventually lose sight of your identity as “light”.

““You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house.”

Matthew 5:14-15 ESV

Have you seen any light source – lamps, candles etc. blend into darkness? No! darkness recognizes it and it can’t fathom or withstand the impact.

The Life-Light blazed out of the darkness; the darkness couldn’t put it out.”

John 1:5 MSG

Is your impact as God’s channel of light and life felt? Is it shining and are you flowing with His life?

“It says in the Bible, “God will cause streams of water to pour out from anyone who believes in me. Water that gives life will come out from inside that person.” ’”

John 7:38 EASY

We keep looking at how bad our world is becoming each passing day. But imagine if we all who have come to know the truth of God’s word, shine our lights in our respective locations (where God has currently situated us at), then the world will light up eventually. Light spreads because another person will catch that same light in you and spread it. And over time, light takes over.

I was smiling after the analogy God gave me because it links us back to the word we all are so eager to use these days – “Networking”.

And it’s graceful that many of us use this strategy in our businesses, careers and all. But sadly, we do not apply the same for the gospel of Christ we have received. We hardly even share the truth we have received with another. 🥺

It’s a call for us all to network God’s light in us. Let it shine forth that others see it; experience it; catch that same light and spread it forth too.

“You must be sure that your light shines well. Then you will give light to other people. They will see all the good things that you do. Then they will praise God, who is your Father in heaven.’”

Matthew 5:16 EASY

May we not lose sight of our purpose and our identity. 🙏🏻

Are you blending in? Shine your light

Enough of us hiding out. Be known for who and whom, you stand for. It’s not a time for you to be lukewarm in your ways.

“So, because you are lukewarm, and neither hot nor cold, I will spit you out of my mouth.”

Revelation 3:16 ESV

Stop trying so hard to blend in. Let your light, shine!! It is meant to shine!

“Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the Lord has risen upon you. For behold, darkness shall cover the earth, and thick darkness the peoples; but the Lord will arise upon you, and his glory will be seen upon you. And nations shall come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your rising.”

Isaiah 60:1-3 ESV

The more of the light you shine, the more His glory is revealed in and through you (the more exploits God does through you). And the more the world is impacted. 📍

It’s time to shine!! And darkness has no other choice than to flee. 🙌🏼

Prayer:

Lord, may we arise to our place as Lights and shine. No more hiding our light, father. We take over the nations for you. 🙏🏻

And this will be our mantra henceforth:

“And when they could not find them, they dragged Jason and some of the brothers before the city authorities, shouting, “These men who have turned the world upside down have come here also,”

Acts 17:6 ESV

Note: Emphasis on the last sentence, stated above. 👆🏼📍

Thank you, Abba for your words. May we continue to shine for you. And darkness has no place to hide around us. (Amen)🙏🏻

Blessings to you and yours. 🤗

Happy new week!

We are called to be lights – yes. We do unfortunately blend in – in some situations and do not shine the light of Christ everywhere. Your reminder to not only shine in church but wherever else God has placed us is a much needed reminder. I think it is easier to shine at church in comparison to our workplace etc. may we remember to be lights but with gentleness and respect in how we do it.
    A good message Mercy 😊💙

  9. This reminds me of something I learned about Corrie Ten Boom years ago. From what I recall, she shared about how her light seemed brighter when the darkness grew greater. It’s not that it really was–she was a light before the Holocaust began. Nonetheless, the growing darkness of that time made her light seem even brighter. Let’s pray that our light would remain strong in these ever present times of darkness.

    1. Hmm. What a great perspective she had! We shouldn’t flee from darkness but we should see it as an opportunity to shine our light. 📍
      Amen 🙏🏻
Thanks for sharing these lessons of hers as well. Learned from it. 📍

  11. This is loaded!

Many of the challenges we have in the world today are because those of us who are lights have refused to shine.

Lord, help me to arise and shine like the light I am. Amen!

Beautiful message to consider today! Is our light shining for jesus, and if it’s not how we clean up our lives so that it may “indeed” shine bright!
