The Background to this theme
Initially when this message was laid in my heart, I had planned to make a video to share it. But God had other plans, He wanted it here on the blog instead. So, here I am writing about it instead, just as He has instructed me to.

Back to Eden
There is something at the beginning of the scriptures (the Bible) that most people (including myself), most likely read and it looks like an overreach for us today.
The part I am referring to is the experience of Adam and Eve. And the depth of fellowship and access they had to God.
“That evening they heard the Lord God walking in the garden, and they hid from him among the trees. But the Lord God called out to the man, “Where are you?” He answered, “I heard you in the garden; I was afraid and hid from you, because I was naked.””
Genesis 3:8-10 GNT | YouVersion Bible App
In the garden, they heard God speak, and they could talk about literally everything with Him. There was absolutely no barrier, just pure communion, fellowship and friendship. 🥰
Some reflection questions:
- How many times have we felt that God is distant from us?
- Or that God isn’t hearing our prayers when we pray to Him?
- Or that He isn’t particularly interested in our crying, or the little details in our lives?
I’ll like to debunk some of these lies, by saying these:
- God has always been there (present with you where you are). He never left and His promise is that He is “always” with you to the end of the ages.
“…. And I will be with you always, to the end of the age.””
Matthew 28:20 GNT | YouVersion Bible App
- God hears ‘all’ your prayers. Because His word says “Call on me and I’ll answer you”. He didn’t say: Call on me and I’ll answer you ‘sometimes’. No! Because He hears you at all times. 📌
“Then you will call to me. You will come and pray to me, and I will answer you.”
Jeremiah 29:12 GNT | YouVersion Bible App
- He hears your cries. Yes, those moments whereby all you are able to express is you crying out. 😭 Those inaudible words, God hears it all. He heard it as well for Hannah, David, and for the Blind Bartimaeus.
Hannah: 👇
“She was praying silently; her lips were moving, but she made no sound. So Eli thought that she was drunk, Don’t think I am a worthless woman. I have been praying like this because I’m so miserable.” So it was that she became pregnant and gave birth to a son. She named him Samuel, and explained, “I asked the Lord for him.””
1 Samuel 1:13, 16, 20 GNT | YouVersion Bible App
David: 👇
“In my trouble I called to the Lord; I called to my God for help. In his temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.”
Psalm 18:6 GNT | YouVersion Bible App
Blind Bartimaeus: 👇
“And when he heard that it was Jesus of Nazareth, he began to cry out, and say, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And many charged him that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more a great deal, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stood still, and commanded him to be called. And they call the blind man, saying unto him, Be of good comfort, rise; he calleth thee. And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way; thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way.”
Mark 10:47-49, 52 KJV | YouVersion Bible App
Having shared all these, I want us to know this: Beyond having a 24/7 access to God, His desire is that we return to Eden – A place of fellowship with Him. 📌
If the aim of God concerning mankind when Jesus died for our sins, was for us to maintain a distance from Him, the curtains that kept the people away — limiting their access only to the outer courts in the temple, wouldn’t have been torn into two.
“Then Jesus shouted out again, and he released his spirit. At that moment the curtain in the sanctuary of the Temple was torn in two, from top to bottom. The earth shook, rocks split apart,”
Matthew 27:50-51 NLT | YouVersion Bible App
That particular experience is symbolic to us as God’s children — God gave us access people, He gave us access! 🙌🏼 And He didn’t stop at this, He took it a notch higher, He called us “Friends”. Such a delight to be a friend of God. ☺️
“You are my friends if you do what I command. I no longer call you slaves, because a master doesn’t confide in his slaves. Now you are my friends, since I have told you everything the Father told me.”
John 15:14-15 NLT | YouVersion Bible App
Just like Abraham was said to be a friend of God, we are. So, just as God didn’t keep the things He would have kept from others, who didn’t have access to Him like Abraham did at the time (in the Old Testament), He wouldn’t keep anything from us.
“And the Lord said to himself, “I will not hide from Abraham what I am going to do.”
Genesis 18:17 GNT | YouVersion Bible App
Our Challenge:
Our responsibility is to first recognize that we have access. And with this understanding, we ‘actively’ engage with Him, everyday and every time. In all season and in all situations or circumstances we find ourselves.
God is always listening. When will you start speaking, more than you’ve ever done before, with Him? 🤔
I believe I have passed His message across to us all. And this isn’t leaving me out as well. 🙂
My prayer is this:
May our hearts delight to communicate with God and draw near to Him more than we have ever done. (Amen)
“Come close to God, and God will come close to you. Wash your hands, you sinners; purify your hearts, for your loyalty is divided between God and the world.”
