I read a book earlier in the year and one of the chapters talked about what makes God smile. The book was on purpose, but while I was brooding on the words shared by the Author, God brought it home for me in another light.
And this is the illustration He painted: A pregnant woman bears in her a child and the sole dependence of that child lies on the mother. For the child, the food and water is channeled through the mother. The shocking part in this learning is that even the emotions of the mother are channeled unto the child.
It was strange until I read about the emotions part of it. But that’s the truth.
And just as we are sons of God. Being borne and carried by Christ, we have our channel from Him.
“For as many of you as were baptized into Christ have put on Christ.”
Galatians 3:27 ESV
We have put Him (Christ) on, hence we are in Him. And like a baby draws his/her all from the mother – the carrier. We also have our likeness in God because He bears us and completes us.
A verse that links the emotions aspect of this to us as believers in Christ is this:
“I smiled on them when they had no confidence, and their depression did not cast down the light of my countenance.”
Job 29:24 AMPC
Here God said He “smiled” on them and the “depression” the people had before He smiled on them, couldn’t cast down His countenance on them. In God’s smile, the people had hope and in Him, light shown on them and depression was gone.
We have a blessing in Him. And that is to dwell in Him. As we choose to make God smile in our dealings, actions and choices, we also benefit from the blessedness of our obedience and commitment to Him.
The life we live for God is to our utmost benefit!
You are never at a loss choosing God and His will in all you do!
May we have a better understanding of who He is and represents in us. (Amen)
