WHAT DOES THIS WORD MEAN?
Values are the beliefs of a person or social group in which they have an emotional investment (either for or against something).
Or
An ideal accepted by some individual or group.
Looking at it in these contexts. It’s important for us to ask ourselves this question: “what are my values?”
What is it that I stand for?. What defines my person if I’m asked or when someone is asked to share about me?. What is it that I have chosen to live by?. What are those things I intend to live for, for the rest of my life?
In our world today, we have a lot of things to choose from and principles to adopt. But are we are really meant to adopt and stick to all of these?.
For me, I would say NO to that.
WHY IS IT A NO?
Because just as Paul stated, I will be telling you also:
As much as we have many principles and belief systems in our world today, we shouldn’t let ourselves be caught up in the LOTS. And we should learn to ask ourselves – what is God saying about this principle that I’ve upheld all these while?. What is He telling you and I to work on and change for a better one?. And what is it that He wants us to adopt now?.
WHAT THEN SHOULD BE OUR VALUE SYSTEM?
The answer to this is God’s words to us. We have these in the Bible and it is so apt, we can never run out of its wisdom.
Finally, let’s ponder on these verses:
Let these verses be our guide. May God helps us to think and act on these virtues He wants us to live by. Amen!.
