💪🏽 The Courage To Trust 🙌🏼

The courage to trust

These words were inspired in my thoughts while I was reflecting and praying about someone, on a particular night.

And based on all that had happened before now, I could see reasons why the concerned person decided to give up hope on the situation. But while I was reflecting on it, these words dropped in my mind – the courage to trust.

I know some of us may have been at some stage in our life that we felt we were at a dead end. We had hoped, prayed, fasted, trusted and it felt like there is nothing more to do. We feel all out of place and just want to give in to chance.

When the Hope you have fizzle out

We have been hanging on that thin thread of Hope for so long, we have lost our grip on it. Because we became tired.

Sighs. I’d say I understand a bit of this. Definitely not to the extent at which you do because situations differ. But then the feelings may be similar.

While I was still reflecting on these words, I kept thinking of examples in the Bible, who could have justified themselves for losing sight of Hope and Faith in their situations.

As much as Job would have come to mind for most. In fact it did. But one of David’s situation got me to eventually write on these words.

David was a man who loved God. Yes! Even God called him a man after His heart yeah. One would think, everything about David would have been preserved or nothing evil would even come near him.

But then, what happened? He and his men went to war and they got back to their camp only to find it ablaze. That means everything seemed lost. Everything dear to them at the time – their wives, children and possessions were all taken away.

“When David and his men came to the town, it was burned, and their wives and their sons and their daughters had been taken captive. Then David and the people who were with him raised their voices and wept until they were too exhausted to weep [any longer].”

1 Samuel 30:3-4 AMP

And to cap it up, his men blamed him in it too. As if he too wasn’t affected by the situation. 😌

“Further, David was greatly distressed because the people spoke of stoning him, for all of them were embittered, each man for his sons and daughters. But David felt strengthened and encouraged in the Lord his God.”

1 Samuel 30:6 AMP

I know someone reading this verses is feeling the same way. And you are thinking – “Why don’t they understand that I am also going through this as well?” or “Oh God, when will these losses end?” etc.

In the odds I still choose to trust God

But just as David did – He encouraged himself in the Lord. And this restored him and his men.

It was only David, amongst him and his men, that remembered the help of God even when it felt all was lost. And his Hope and faith in God brought about the restoration for others as well.

“David inquired of the Lord, saying, “Shall I pursue this band [of raiders]? Will I overtake them?” And He answered him, “Pursue, for you will certainly overtake them, and you will certainly rescue [the captives].” So David recovered all that the Amalekites had taken, and rescued his two wives. Nothing of theirs was missing whether small or great, sons or daughters, spoil or anything that had been taken; David recovered it all.”

1 Samuel 30:8, 18-19 AMP

I know it’s not an easy situation for you to still choose to trust God. Especially when you are filled with so many losses or rejections. And you are losing sight of anything positive happening around you, because it feels like that hasn’t happened in a while.

But then, there is still Hope. If only you will choose to trust God. He can give you the courage to trust Him again.

Your little faith is able to light up your dark path

And who knows, that decision to choose courage and trust Him again, might be the needed faith you need to cast that mountain into the sea.

“I assure you and most solemnly say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be lifted up and thrown into the sea!’ and does not doubt in his heart [in God’s unlimited power], but believes that what he says is going to take place, it will be done for him [in accordance with God’s will].”

Mark 11:23 AMP

And,

“And the Lord said, “If you had faith like a grain of mustard seed, you could say to this mulberry tree, ‘Be uprooted and planted in the sea,’ and it would obey you.”

Luke 17:6 ESV

Remember that your situation isn’t a lost case and God can still turn it around for good. Just as He did for David and his men.

Today, choose courage to trust God again. Selah!

Wishing you a great new week. 🤗

Happy Valentine’s Day. 🤗

I love that God left all the dirty laundry of people when He inspired men to write it. Had He now we would be striving for a perfection we would never attain. Trusting comes easier when we realize we are not perfect and never will be but He is and Jesus is who I chose to trust. Not man or beast or creation or myself for sure, I place my trust as best I can in Him who is perfectly loving on me daily. Good post.
