✨ SEX – THE AVOIDED TOPIC πŸ”˜

Sex - Topic

For a start, why should we abstain from sex as singles?

Why is it that despite the fact that chastity campaigns are increasing, the abstinence mentality is declining so rapidly? That sex has now been reduced to everything β€œcarnal”.

So yeah let’s get back to the basics –

Why should we abstain?

Is it because our pastors or church leaders told us so? Or is it because our parents have mentioned it countless times to us, that we feel we should honor them by preserving this blessing – sex?

While I was pondering on this subject, I couldn’t help but see why we have been so caught in the web of finding it difficult to abstain.

Seek - Please God - Unlimited Strength

One thing He brings to my heart is the fact that when we seek to please Him – God, we enter into His unlimited strength to uphold His vessel (His temple) – you!

But when we misplace this priority/order, and choose to abstain for every other reason, we find ourselves in the limited.

It’s only in God that we have unlimited strength to abstain. So again, what are your reasons for keeping yourself chaste?

It’s time to choose to do this for the right reason. Which should be our only reason and that is to honor God enough, with our vessels.

β€œYou were bought with a price [purchased with a preciousness and paid for, made His own]. So then, honor God and bring glory to Him in your body.”
1 Corinthians 6:20 AMPC

Remember, you were bought with a price. And that price requires only one thing from you – which is to honor Him with all that you are and stand for.

Bought with a Price - Honour Him with your body

Let your love for God be spelt out loud, in your dealings!

β€œLove GOD, your God, with your whole heart: love him with all that’s in you, love him with all you’ve got!”
Deuteronomy 6:5 MSG

Lastly, sex is a blessing and it’s time we redefine this. It’s a blessing that should be kept within the premise of β€œmarriage”.

β€œLet marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy, precious, of great price, and especially dear) in all things. And thus let the marriage bed be undefiled (kept undishonored); for God will judge and punish the unchaste [all guilty of sexual vice] and adulterous.”
Hebrews 13:4 AMPC

And,

β€œDrink waters out of your own cistern [of a pure marriage relationship], and fresh running waters out of your own well.
[Confine yourself to your own wife] let your children be for you alone, and not the children of strangers with you. Let your fountain [of human life] be blessed [with the rewards of fidelity], and rejoice in the wife of your youth. Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant doe [tender, gentle, attractive]–let her bosom satisfy you at all times, and always be transported with delight in her love.”
Proverbs 5:15, 17-19 AMPC

May His word redefine our minds. And aid us in making a decision to henceforth act according to His words. Amen πŸ™πŸ»

Blessings. πŸ€—

Mercy, someone once told me that if we preach the entire Bible but leave out that area that is most conflicted in our society, we are failing to “preach the whole counsel of God.” (Acts 20:27) We need to hear this more from pulpits!
One of the best articles I ever came across that reaffirms your presentation is mostly the work of George Sanchez of the Navigators. As you note, when we seek to please God, He provides the strength. I produced Sanchez’ article as a page in my blog: https://capost2k.wordpress.com/changing-your-thought-patterns/
    Blessing on you, my sister.

I agree with what is mentioned but this is easier said than done because abstinence requires a strong will to detach from or rise above such physical desire.

Only by Jesus’ power through His Holy Spirit. In the flesh we will all sin, but Christ can set us free from our β€œflesh” even while we still live in it. He cannot make us virgins again if we have sinned, but He can make us pure again, and able to resist the temptations.

  7. Sex!

It’s really sad to see what our community today has become, with both young and adult robbing themselves of their glorious future at the altar of sex.

Several times, I ask myself why? How did we get this so wrong, especially with this young generations.

But just like you said Mercy, a lot of these people doesn’t really know why they should abstain, or enjoy sex in while married. While sometimes, some of the reasons we even give them are not enough to constrain them.

But, I’m sorry to say, If we have not come to a point of understanding what honouring God means (both with our body and spirit), we can continue to talk about Sex, but we might not see the change we desire.

For ye are bought with a price, therefore you have to, you must honor God with your body which belongs to him in the first place (emphasis).

Thanks for sharing sis… I’m blessed

SO true. Very well approached. Sex is just so casual these days. Marriage has lost it’s sanctity. The marriage bed is no longer holy. We need people to post things like these teaching us valuable lessons to keep ourselves holy and reminding us of the price that was paid.

  12. I was brought up with my parents never really telling me about sex. It was a “hush” type of deal. I told my girls because I did not want them growing up like I did. I think nowadays, parents don’t really care as much. Most of them are friends with their kids at a young age, because they want to act young as well. When you have parents acting in that manner, the morals go out the window. That leads to the question, where are the morals?
    God Bless. 😊

    1. Phew! This is happening a lot and we need this topic to be spoken about so that the generation now and upcoming can glean wisdom from Abba’s words on it. πŸ“Œ

Christopher, your website is not glorifying to God and is opposed to what Mercy is presenting here. The intention of your business site appears to be only for sexual lust and objectification of women. As Peter warned Simon the magician, “You have neither part nor lot in this matter, for your heart is not right before God. Repent, therefore, of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that, if possible, the intent of your heart may be forgiven you.”
I agree in prayer that your heart may be changed and you will find true satisfaction, not from objectifying women, but in submission to the LORD of all the earth, your Creator.
