👤 Your Expression – His Reflection ✨

Expression - Reflection

I was having my study on a particular day and on reading one of the referenced verses. I got to reminisce on it and that birthed my writing on this.

Mind you, this verse is a verse I have come to know for a while now, but in a way it was like it was so direct this time around. And not the “familiar verse” I thought I knew.

So yeah, the verse is –

“Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”

1 John 4:8 ESV

The analogy that came to mind when I was reflecting on it is the “vine”.

We remember the chapter where Jesus spoke about the vine yeah. Let’s take a detour and read the verses that made it seem so real and made me see it in a better light.

The vine –

““I am the sprouting vine and you’re my branches. As you live in union with me as your source, fruitfulness will stream from within you—but when you live separated from me you are powerless. When your lives bear abundant fruit, you demonstrate that you are my mature disciples who glorify my Father!”

John 15:5, 8 TPT

Reading this verses again makes it so “Apt” for me. We can’t say we are a vine branch if we are not reflecting the attributes of the vine tree. It’s not possible. And that goes for any other fruit tree or plant. A branch can’t exist with a mind of its own, choosing its own attributes or standards.

Living on your own term

And why is that? It’s because as a branch connected to a tree or shoot, you have all your nutrient and supply from the shoot. Yes, you might have access to the rain and it pours on your leaves, but water alone can’t sustain the branch through the years. And except it allows the natural, God-planned process of it taking up nutrients from the shoot (originally channeled from the root), it can’t survive the ever-changing seasons at all.

What happens when the rainfall is minimal or out? Would that branch still survive it?

These are questions for us to ponder upon. 💭

Back to our main text. We can’t say we are love beings or we know Christ if we can’t even in a day show an act of love and sacrifice to what our logic or feeling feels it’s right. Because really, our logic and feelings doesn’t do the “God kind of love”. Because to it, life is in taking it for what it is – face level.

Love! Hmm, that’s a word we often use, but we can’t do love unless we have met with the being Love. And trust me, each day we learn more about it. You know why the subject of love is endless? It’s because He who is love is endless! So we can’t say we have reached our peak of loving or showing love to others.

His love in us keeps on stretching us. It pulls us away from our logic, helps us to see through His lens and choose His way that we can hence act in His kind of love – God’s love!

Love beyond logic

You want to learn how to love? Then get close to the being Love. You can’t go wrong learning His concept of Love. It saves us many headaches and makes our heart freer because our heart is full of His love. And it being stretched minute after minute, make room for His endless love to be revealed in us.

May our expression be centered henceforth on His expression. (Amen) 🙏🏻

Blessings to you. ❤️

The complete life of the tree s completely dependent on the root, because it can only live for a finite amount of time on its own accord.

How can we claim to be a branch of the vine if we do not express attributes if the vine- a good question to ponder on for us all.

God is love. Everything about Him exudes love. Therefore, as a reflection and extension of Him, we love because He first loved us.
