Today—24th of July, I was watching a movie and I saw a woman who had lost her only son cry.
Her crying is not what is making me write about this. Rather, it was the first time I saw her cry since the movie started. She was masking the pain and hurts she carried inside. She had even shut out the wife of her son, thinking she caused it. Whereas the lady had nothing to do with it. Something changed as the movie progressed and she finally processed her loss. It was in that moment that she cried.

And just because I can be an emotional being who cries with those who cry. 🫣 I felt her hurt for the first time in that moment she finally processed what had happened to her. 😢
In our world today, there is an expectation from people, when we lose something or maybe someone, that we should just move on from it. What if we were never supposed to just shut off that emotion, and instead we are to allow ourselves process it?
🔸 What if we are all wired to be an emotional being, and to process those emotions you are feeling?
🔸 What if we are doing more harm to ourselves, and others just because we are trying to hold back on those tears?
🔸What if we tell ourselves it’s okay to allow ourselves process the grief in order to move forward, and not remain stuck in it?

I used to think I was too emotional for a long time but God always reminded me that it is because He gave me a big heart, so it’s okay to feel these emotions.
The only thing is that, as good as processing the emotions are, that we don’t let it be what decides what we do going forward from that point onward. 📍
There is a verse that we often quote as a reference to Jesus experiencing grief, because He wept when He was told about His friend, Lazarus. However, that story about Jesus processing the information about the death of His friend, didn’t stop at “Jesus wept”.
Rather, Jesus went ahead to bring Lazarus back to life.
The end goal of any season of grief that we experience is that we after it all, that we still have “life”.
Hence, in all the emotions and pains, there is no other life-giving space to be in, than in and with Jesus. Because He is life! 👇🏻
“In Him was life [and the power to bestow life], and the life was the Light of men.”
John 1:4 AMP

There is the place of human support systems which is of great help. 💯
But, we would need to draw from a place of much greater support and strength—Jesus. 📍
So I invite you today, that in all the emotions, in the processing of that grief, that you let the one willing to carry that burden of pain, thoughts of “I can’t survive this experience”, carry you through to the very end.
““Come to me, all of you who are tired from carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke and put it on you, and learn from me, because I am gentle and humble in spirit; and you will find rest. For the yoke I will give you is easy, and the load I will put on you is light.””
Matthew 11:28-30 GNT

I know you are reading this post virtually, but I want you to know this. The stabbing pain you are feeling right from that loss, will someday no longer be felt.
I want you to know that despite the surging ache in your heart as you deal with that grief, that you are feeling, someday it will no longer be what evolves around your day.
I know that it is possible. Because I have had to process certain losses. Some desires I prayed for, for many years but never came to be, and at a point I knew I had to let it go.
As I look back today, I no longer feel the stabbing ache I felt. Neither do I feel the pains I felt in my heart, processing the grief that gripped me so hard, that I didn’t have the words to describe it.

Sending you lots of hugs and prayers your way. 👇🏻👇🏻
ABBA, keep the heart of your daughter or son reading this blog.
Give him or her the strength to bear the pain and ache he or she feels.
Just the way I feel the warmth of your presence in every season of pain and ache I have ever experienced. Since I came to know you as my Lord, please wrap them up with that comfort—Your comfort.
Thank you my Father.
(Amen)
